Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 15, 2026

This policy describes how Yettuce collects, uses, and shares information when you use our websites and apps, and what choices you have. It is meant to be read together with our Terms of Use.

1. Information we collect

We collect what you give us when you sign up or use Yettuce, such as your name, email, and profile details. We also store preferences that power the product: taste signals, dietary restrictions, pantry items, saved and cooked recipes, searches, and similar activity in the app.

If you turn on location features, we collect precise location—your device's GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude)—so we can show nearby restaurants, dining options, and location-aware recommendations. Precise geolocation is a category of sensitive personal information, and we collect it only after you grant permission through your device. You can turn it off at any time in your device or browser settings. We also derive approximate (coarse) location from your IP address, including on our public pages, to show locally relevant content even if you have not granted precise location.

When you use location-aware features—in the app, on the web, or through the Text Assistant—we may look up current weather for your location to tailor suggestions (for example, comfort foods on a cold or rainy day). To do this we send your coordinates to a weather provider and store a lightweight weather snapshot, such as temperature and conditions, with your interaction history. We use standard session cookies and similar technologies so you can stay logged in.

If you use our optional Text Assistant (Yetta, see below), we collect your mobile phone number, verification codes we send, the text messages you send and receive with Yettuce, and a conversation history so the assistant can respond in context. If you tell Yetta what to call you, we store that nickname on your profile. We may also store lightweight interaction context with each text, such as an approximate tone label from your message, the weather snapshot described above when we have a recent location you allowed, and timestamps—used to improve personalization. We do not use this to send marketing unless we add a separate opt in.

2. Text messages and the Text Assistant

Where you opt in. Text messaging is optional. If you want it, sign in to Yettuce on the app or at yettuce.com, open Settings, and choose Text Assistant. We explain what the feature does before you enter a number.

How we prove it is you. After you enter your phone number, we send a one time code to that number. You must enter the code in the app before we treat the number as linked. Only then will we send you assistant messages on that line. That verification step is how we collect consent to message you for this feature.

What you receive. When your number is linked, you can text Yettuce to ask for recipe ideas, shopping list help, and similar cooking support. Replies are sent by automated systems, not by a human sitting at a phone. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply.

How to stop. You can disconnect your number from the same Text Assistant screen in Settings, or delete your Yettuce account from Settings. If you need help, email support@yettuce.com.

We do not use this phone flow to send marketing or promotional texts unless we add a separate opt in for that in the future and update this policy.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to run Yettuce, personalize recipes and lists, operate the Text Assistant, keep accounts secure, fix bugs, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Service providers

We use trusted vendors to host the product, send text messages, authenticate users, and run infrastructure. That includes, for example, carriers and messaging providers (such as Twilio) for SMS delivery, and AI model providers (such as Anthropic) to generate assistant responses when you use the Text Assistant. Those companies process data on our behalf under contractual terms and their own privacy policies.

When you use location and weather features, we share your location—such as your device coordinates or IP address—with providers that help us deliver those features. That includes mapping and places providers (such as Google Maps and Google Places) to find and verify nearby restaurants, an IP-based geolocation provider to estimate approximate location, and a weather provider (Open-Meteo) to retrieve current conditions for your area. We also use AI model providers (such as Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI) to generate recommendations, presentation text, and search features. These providers process the data we send on our behalf or under their own terms and privacy policies.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety, rights, or integrity of Yettuce and our users.

5. Artificial intelligence

Parts of Yettuce, including the Text Assistant, use machine learning and large language models. Output can be wrong, incomplete, or not suited to your situation. You should double check anything that matters for health, allergies, food safety, or nutrition. Nothing we send is medical or professional advice.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure.

7. Your choices

You can review and update profile and privacy options in Settings, including Privacy and Security. You may delete your account from Settings, which starts removal of your personal data subject to any limited retention we need for legal or security reasons.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to: know or access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; delete your information; opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising); and limit our use of sensitive personal information, such as precise geolocation. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights, and you may appeal a decision by contacting us. To make a request, email support@yettuce.com. You can also turn off precise location at any time through your device or browser settings.

How long we keep information. We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy—such as operating the service, personalizing recommendations, keeping accounts secure, and meeting legal obligations. Location and weather information tied to your activity is kept to power and improve personalization until you delete your account or ask us to remove it, after which we delete or de-identify it within a reasonable period, subject to limited retention required for legal or security reasons.

8. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to understand basic usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work as well if you block them.

9. Children

Yettuce is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

10. International users

We operate from the United States. If you use Yettuce from another country, your information may be processed in the U.S. or other locations where we or our vendors operate.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when practical, such as in the app or by email.
